LDS300 - Principles of Leadership (3 credit hours)
This course introduces students to the concept of leadership by focusing on definitions of leadership, fundamental leadership theory, roles of leaders in various contexts, and an overview of foundational skills required for successful leadership.

LDS310 - Interpersonal Leadership (3 credit hours)
This course focuses on developing leadership skills at the individual level by exploring such topics as self-concept, self-esteem, personal values, time and stress management, conflict resolution, gender issues, and the ethics of leadership.

LDS320 - Organizational Leadership (3 credit hours)
This course is designed to provide students with the basic principles and elements of the growing discipline of organizational leadership. It examines the attitudes and actions that people exhibit in modern organizations by providing an overview of such topics as organizational structure, personality and emotion, power and politics, motivation, and ethics in the workplace.

LDS330 - Identiyt in aMulticultura Wor. (3 credit hours)
This course combines the disciplines of psychology, sociology, counseling, literature, and philosophy to address the issues related to individual and social identity. In addition to reading foundational texts on identity, students explore cultural and multi-cultural notions of identity, investigate factors that help shape identity, examine changes in identity, and reflect on their own sense of self.

LDS340 - UAE Soc. and Gov. in Glo.World (3 credit hours)
This course combines history, geography, political science, urban planning, and sociology to investigate the current and projected state of the United Arab Emirates. Relying on a historical frame, students examine the current demographics, social and political structures, and economic forces of the UAE. They map the effects of global economies, work forces, mass communication, and perspectives on the UAE, and project strategies for future success.

LDS350 - Civilizations in Dialogue (3 credit hours)
This course combines the disciplines of history, political science, communication, and geography. What is a civilization? How do history and place contribute to the formation of civilization? How do people from different places with different assumptions communicate? What contributes to cross-cultural understanding and misunderstanding? Students examine their own civilization and compare it with others.

LDS360 - Tradition,Cul.& Cont.Society (3 credit hours)
This course combines literature, history, and philosophy. It examines the intellectual foundations of the UAE, and connects historical patterns and developments with current practices and perceptions in local, regional, and global contexts. How does tradition emerge in the present? How do writers, thinkers, and historians describe the UAE and the region? What is culture ? its features, dimensions, and branches?

LDS400 - Leadership Com. (3 credit hours)
This course demonstrates communication techniques used by effective leaders by analyzing speeches, correspondences, and other vehicles of communication. It requires students to develop and practice their own communication skills in a variety of settings using various forms as appropriate to the situation.

LDS410 - 21 Century Challenges:Envirome (3 credit hours)
This course combines geography, urban planning, political science, sociology, and philosophy to study the current environmental conditions, first in the UAE, then expanding regionally and then globally. Students begin with the ethics of consumer cultures and treatment of natural resources, proceed to current policy and practical programming, finish with recommendations for future policies and projects.

LDS420 - Internship 1 (9 credit hours)
This interdisciplinary course is designed to provide students with the practical awareness and understanding of current issues relating to the nature and tasks of collaborative leadership behavior. The student is asked to train in one of the governmental or non-governmental establishments in Al Ain city. The student is required to work in the selected establishment for the whole duration of the first semester of his fourth year. During this period the student puts into practice the skills, knowledge, and values he/she has learned in the Leadership and Society Program.

LDS430 - Internship 2 (9 credit hours)
This interdisciplinary course is designed to provide students with the practical awareness and understanding of current issues relating to the nature and tasks of collaborative leadership behavior. The student is asked to train in one of the governmental or non-governmental establishments in Al Ain city. The student is required to work in the selected establishment for the whole duration of the second semester of his fourth year. During this period the student conducts appropriate research. The workplace can provide an experience that identifies an area a student needs improve, or a student can choose a related topic within the work context. The results of the research study will be put in a report and will have to be presented.
